- BTS supera su propia marca personal y se convierte en el grupo con mayor número de premios Billboard de la historia
- Olivia Rodrigo y Kanye West lideran la noche de los Billboard Music Awards 2022 con siete y seis premios respectivamente
Este domingo 15 de mayo, Las Vegas volvía a ser testigo de uno de los eventos más importantes de la industria musical: los premios Billboard. Basados en el afecto de los fans por sus ídolos, el reparto de premios en esta 21ª ceremonia ha estado bastante centralizado. Olivia Rodrigo se convertía en la mayor triunfadora de la noche, recibiendo siete premios de las 13 categorías en las que se encontraba nominada, como ‘mejor artista nuevo’ y ‘mejor artista femenina’, entre otros. Con el mismo número de nominaciones, y siguiendo muy de cerca a la joven artista de 19 años, el rapero Kanye West, ahora conocido como Ye, recibía seis premios.
Doja Cat inauguraba la ceremonia siendo la primera premiada en la categoría ‘mejor álbum R&B’ por su disco ‘Planet Her‘. Un inicio de gala que predecía una noche de gloria para la artista. Por segundo año, la artista se hacía con la categoría de ‘mejor artista femenina de R&B’, alcanzando también el reconocimiento como ‘mejor artista de R&B’.
BTS sigue rompiendo récords
Como claro ejemplo de la importancia que supone tener un buen «ejército» de fans para la trayectoria de cualquier artista, BTS sigue haciendo historia. Los grandes ausentes de la noche se convertían por segundo año consecutivo en los ganadores de las categorías a ‘mejor dúo/grupo’, ‘top artista en ventas’ y ‘canción más vendida’, gracias a su éxito ‘Butter‘. De esta forma, con un total de 12 galardones desde su incorporación en los Billboard Music Awards 2017, BTS se ha convertido en el mayor grupo, y primera banda coreana, en obtener la máxima cantidad de premios Billboard de la historia, superando así a Destiny’s Child que acumulaba un total de 11 estatuillas.
En cuanto a la representación de la música latina, Bad Bunny, por segundo año consecutivo, se hacía con el reconocimiento a ‘mejor artista latino’ y ‘mejor artista latino masculino’. Por su parte, Kali Uchis triunfó en la categoría a ‘mejor artista latina femenina’ obteniendo también el galardón a ‘mejor canción’ por su sencillo ‘Telepatía’, mientras que ‘KG0516′ de Karol G fue aclamado como ‘mejor álbum latino’.
